Bilva - the bael tree, Aegle marmelos, grows up to 7.5 meter high. The thorns and branches spread up to 2.5 cm long. The fruits are spherical with a bark-like, smooth shell. Unripe fruits are green and ripe fruits yellow to brown. The ripe fruits give off a sweet aromatic fragrance. Bilva is native to Indian deciduous forests. It is found in the western Himalayas at an altitude of 1200 m.
