Ayurvedic Specialities - Mango Lassi with Superfoods

In our new series "Ayurvedic Specialities" has begun. Every few weeks we will feature a new recipe that is dedicated to the Ayurvedic lifestyle and principles. The series is not solely dedicated to health food, it will also promote balancing the dosha ratio.

This week, we are presenting "Mango Lassi with Superfoods". Lassi is an Indian yoghurt drink, that can be prepared in a variety of ways. It is also well-known in Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

These beverages, that are composed of milk and yoghurt, were first written about during the Verdic period (1500 B.C.). Lassi was a drink enjoyed in noble houses, as milk was a very valuable commodity back then. It was often offered as a sacrifice to the gods.

Lassi is enjoyed and served with spicy foods because the fat contained in the milk offsets the spiciness. Served cold, it is a refreshing milk-based beverage that offers cooling effects on hot days.
