Description
Oil pulling is a well-known treatment in Ayurveda. Originally, this treatment was done using pure sunflower oil. This product, however, was made on the basis of sesame oil, as this oil possesses detoxifying properties. In addition, sesame oil has an effect on the reflex zones of the tongue, which in turn are linked to the internal organs. Therefore, the duration of the oil pulling now only needs 3 - 5 minutes compared to the traditional 15-20 minutes.
Although there are no proven effects of oil pulling on the overall health of the body, followers of this method swear by its holistic effectiveness. In dentistry, the positive effect of oil pulling has been recognized.
