Mucilage - a very special substance produces by plants
Natural and versatile in use
When mucilage comes into contact with water, it swells and forms a gel-like, slimy mass. It is particularly useful in medicine as it relieves irritation of mucous membranes by forming a protective film. It is also extremely popular in diets. It is particularly common in mallow, marshmallow, ribwort and coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara). Well-known foods such as chia seeds and flax seeds also contain valuable mucilage.
