Dry Massage - Gharshana
In Ayurveda, Garshana massages are dry massages used before showering in the morning, especially for Kapha constitutions. The massages are considered refreshing and stimulating and remove dead skin cells. They are good for the soul and have many positive aspects - one of which is focusing on the body. Listen with your inner ear and take a moment to take stock of your body. Imagine that you're in a calm, quiet room. These massages are highly recommended in the spring when Kapha tends to be out of balance.
Please note: always massage in circular motions towards the heart. Take a warm shower after your massage. Vata and Pitta types can also use dry massages, but they an also add a care oil to their routine before showering.
